April 24th week 43
Hey fam. We had a week! It was a good week! I got an unapproved
haircut! I'll send a selfie in a sec.
We had Elder Rasband come to our stake this week! It was awesome, he
first came and spoke to the youth, and it was really packed
apparently. Everyone loved it though, and he spoke about families. He
quoted the saying that said no success can compensate for failure in
the family, he talked about what makes a family a failure (when people
stop trying), and he told us about what happened when he was ordained
an apostle. It was awesome, he told us about what happens in the upper
room of the temple and the words they used to ordain him. I've never
heard it before.
So there were also other things during the week. We ate at a
restaurant called the pool room, where NASCAR started. Apparently it
was bootleggers that started it, and a bunch of NASCAR guys are from
Dawsonville. Also moonshine was invented here! We went to a zoo, I
petted a baby black bear, I bought a beanie with a confederate flag on
it, I bought a thrift store tie and skinnied it. It was a fun day. Oh
and we met a guy who came up with his own philosophy of religion,
basically Christianity mixed with some Buddhism. He wrote a book and
gave it to us for free though, so that's cool.
I also want to share something completely crazy that our mission
president talked to us about. He was talking about the millennium and
when it would start, and he said nobody knows for sure, but he talked
with some general authorities one time, and they said that everything
that needs to happen, as in events/tasks that need to be completed
have been done. For example, the gospel has visited every people and
the visitors center in Jerusalem can be converted to a temple with
just one dedicatory prayer, etc. The two scriptures that they are
looking at are the ones in Moses 8 when God says "the earth is too
wicked, we need to stop" and there's a scripture in D&C 124:49 that
basically says "if the enemies keep you from doing my work, I no
longer require it at your hands". In a nutshell, when the world A) is
too wicked to have righteous children born or B) the world is so
wicked it opposes Gods work to spread the gospel, the time will be
near. He said that a few months ago and it seems like every talk has
been to strengthen your families, protect them from evil, draw
together in a family. Also proclaim the gospel, save souls, do family
history work. That's really all that's left.
Alright, that's all for now, 2 Nephi 5:27.
